Civil Wastewater, Stormwater & Water Engineer

Environmental Advisors and Engineers, Inc. (EAE) is seeking part-time and/or full-time Civil Engineers in the Kansas City metro area with wastewater, stormwater, and water design experience. The Civil Engineers will work closely with professional staff members and will support Senior Engineers and Project Managers on a variety of projects. These opportunities include evaluating, designing, and overseeing construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities, gravity sanitary sewers, force mains, water and wastewater pump stations, water main replacements, and related infrastructure.

EAE also offers the opportunity for future management roles and participation in environmental consulting, facility assessments, and construction monitoring project work which EAE performs on a national basis.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist with stormwater, wastewater, and water projects through assessment, planning, design, and construction phases

  • Serve as Project Engineer and/or Project Manager for various projects

  • Assist with various tasks on other engineering and environmental projects

  • Participate in field investigations and construction observations

  • Prepare feasibility studies, cost estimates, and other reports relating to stormwater management and wastewater/water infrastructure

  • Assist in expansion of EAE's green infrastructure practice

  • Coordinate with sub-consultants and clients

  • Provide technical support to EAE's senior staff

Required Qualifications       

  • BS in Civil Engineering

  • Residence in Kansas City metro area

  • Professional Engineering License in Kansas and/or Missouri or Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate

  • 3 to 15 years Civil Engineering experience in stormwater/wastewater/water design

  • Experience in interpreting water, sewer, and storm water design and as-builts

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in an consulting environment

  • Excellent technical writing ability

  • Attention to details and accurate field documentation skills

  • Strong communicator with the ability to work effectively both on a team and individually

  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS software

  • Advanced experience using Microsoft (MS) Excel, including developing spreadsheets to perform various engineering design calculations and data management

  • Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience sewer and/or water main design projects for the City of Kansas City, MO

  • Experience in wastewater pump station design and rehabilitation

  • Direct knowledge and experience in watershed management including stream bank stabilization, water quality management, roadway drainage design, and stormwater design with an emphasis on green infrastructure solutions

  • Experience in hydrology and hydraulics applications

  • Experience in construction administration Resident Project Representative (RPR)/Owner Representative tasks on stormwater and sewer construction projects

  • Experience in water distribution and transmission main design

  • Envision® Sustainability Professional (Env. SP) Certification

  • National Association of Sewer Service Companies' (NASSCO's) Pipeline, Manhole and Lateral Assessment Certification Programs (PACP/ MACP/LACP) and Inspector Training and

  • Certification Program (ITCP) certifications
