Full Time or Part Time Senior Supporting Architect

Environmental Advisors and Engineers, Inc. (EAE) is seeking a full-time and/or part-time experienced Senior Architect with AutoCAD and Project Management experience to support our experienced architectural and BIM support staff.  This work-from-home remote office position offers flexible hours and schedules, employee benefits, employer-provided software and equipment, and limited fieldwork and travel. This is an ideal position for an experienced architect that wants to provide value in technical support without the responsibility of leading a large project or team of architects. The successful candidate will work on the design and documentation of infrastructure building projects, provide quality-control, work on specifications and submittal reviews in support of EAE’s growing base of architectural work for municipal clients. The Senior Architect will work closely with the Architectural Department Manager and will support the Lead Architects, and Project Managers.

The full-time positions are limited to candidates residing in or willing to relocate to the Kansas City, Missouri or Wichita, Kansas metro areas.

EAE is a rapidly growing consulting firm headquartered in the Kansas City metro area that has been in business for over 25 years. Our multidisciplinary team includes licensed architects, professional engineers, construction specialists, environmental scientists, and engineering data management and administrative support personnel.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist with architectural projects through assessment, planning, design, and construction phases.

  • Prepare feasibility studies and other reports relating to architectural projects.

  • Prepare drawings or mark-ups of drawings in AutoCAD for architectural and engineering projects based on sketches and layouts; assist in design development of construction drawings as part of the EAE design team.

  • Research and document solutions to design challenges as requested by Project Managers and design staff.

  • Assist with preparation of specifications.

  • Assist in project management tasks on architectural projects.

  • Assist with cost estimates, proposals, and invoices.

  • Adhere to discipline, client, and company drafting standards and procedures.

  • Coordinate with sub-consultants and clients.

  • Attend virtual project meetings.

  • Provide technical and quality control support to EAE’s Project Managers.

  • Review shop drawings and submittals.

  • For those staff that reside in the KC Metro or Wichita KS area, participate in field investigations.

  • For those staff that reside in the KC Metro or Wichita KS area and are interested in construction phase observation services, assist the project team in construction phase observations.

 

Required Qualifications for Part-Time Staff

  • Bachelor and/or master’s degree in architecture.

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in commercial architectural design.

  • Experience in Project Management on architectural projects, including scoping, cost estimates, proposals, internal technical review of design documents, invoices, staff forecasting.

  • Experience in construction submittal review.

  • Experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance on architectural projects.

  • Proficient in keyboarding, AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams, Bluebeam, and Outlook.

  • Skills to operate basic office equipment (printers, scanners, computers, and telephone systems).

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.

  • Strong communicator with the ability to work effectively both in a team and individually.

  • Excellent technical writing skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

  • Mobile phone.

 

Preferred

  • Professional Architectural License in Kansas and/or Missouri or the ability to obtain licensure in both states within six months of hire date.

  • Home office in KC Metro or Wichita Area with high-speed internet access.

  • Experience in ADA assessments and design of ADA upgrades.

  • Familiarity with Revit software.

  • Experience in Architectural projects for the City of Kansas City, MO. and/or the City of Wichita.

  • Product research aiding the generation of technical specifications.

  • Experience in construction administration tasks on architectural construction projects.

  • Experience in ADA assessments.

  • Experience in conducting Facility Condition Assessments.

  • Experience and ability to climb ladders and assist with roofing observations/inspections.

  • Experience and ability to assist with architectural construction observations.

 

Additional Required Qualifications for Full-Time Staff

  • Residence in the Kansas City Metro or Wichita area with high-speed internet access, or willing to relocate to these cities.

  • Skills in Excel and ability to quickly learn and willingness to support a variety of other consulting engineering and construction monitoring tasks.

  • Basic skills in Revit software; ability to work efficiently with architectural Revit technicians.

  • A variety of other project tasks may be available, depending on location, credentials and interest, such as field investigations, construction monitoring, data analysis and management, environmental project support, etc.
